opens with a tab in place and when i try to close it, the entire window closes
just updatrd to firefox 23.0. i have it set to open with a blank page. when i open a window, there is a "new tab" with the plus sign next to it. i didn't ask for this feature. i can't find a way to make it not happen. i takes up space. it is irritating. i want it gone. when i click on close tab in the file menu, the entire window closes. please tell me how to open firefox and get the blank page as usual. ty.
Chosen solution
Yes, this is a change in Firefox 23 to always have the tab bar visible. It's part of a series of changes expected to culminate with a major makeover in Firefox 26.
For now, there is an extension to revert to the previous behavior of hiding the tab bar when there is only one tab: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/hide-tab-bar-with-one-tab/
