Cannot Comment on YouTube

So after Google decided to implement Google+ into the YouTube comments system, I have decided to go ahead and create the Google+ account. After I have done so, I still cannot post a comment on YouTube. The profile picture that is next to the "Share your thoughts" box does not show my picture. Clicking on the box only created a blank window that popped up for about half a second and then went away, and I still cannot type as if I never clicked on the box at all. I managed to copy the URL that appears in the window, but opening it in a new tab only yields me a blank page.

I have confirmed this is an issue with Firefox because when I go onto IE, YouTube allows me to comment just fine like it is supposed to. I have also tried everything with Firefox including: clearing all the cache and cookies, disabling add-ons, logging off and logging back on, and starting it in safe mode. Everything I tried gave the same result, just a split second blank window whenever I want to comment or post a reply.

Add google.com and youtube.com to your exceptions for cookies and you should be fine. With 3rd party cookies set to "never" you need these exceptions. If you have it set to "always" then swap to "never" while on youtube you'll receive a message "you have been logged out."

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

FirefoxSafeMode

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode" Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Thank you.

They now work fine without safe mode. If not for you, try to update to the latest version on Firefox

I am in fact running the latest version (25.0.1), and like I said, I have tried everything including running it in safe mode and going through that troubleshooter. The problem still exists.

Adding those to my exceptions fixed it, thanks. As if I was not mad enough at Google, they seem to want to force tracking you for advertising.

I had tried to do this multiple times and got very frustrated that it didn't work. Finally figured out I had blocked an unrelated thing that was sponsored through Google ages ago and I had to unblock it to get the things to work. Very frustrating and incredibly annoying that I had to go to so much trouble.
