How can I delete AVG secure search "before" it installs?

more options

I was finally able clear my laptop of AVG secure search but had to do a clean install of Firefox get it done. My other PC (Win 7/64 bit) is asking me to reboot to "update" AVG. I tried to uninstall the AVG file, but it won't let me until I reboot.

Is there a way I can get rid of it before it infects my system??

It was quite a process to get rid of it on my laptop. I tried the uninstall/change option but all it would do was launch IE and give me instructions on how to delete it from Chrome. At that point I knew it was going to be a process. Used Revo to install about 1400 files but still got the AVG SS when I opened a new tab. Tried SearchReset but that didn't help. I did the about:config method but a couple of the items either wouldn't let me reset or they just reset to a blank instead of "true".

Wondering if just reinstalling after deleting the folder is the best a easiest answer...

Thanks.

Go the the menu and select Add-On option when it opens in another tab select the "Extensions" option from left topic menu then first disable the AVG secure search then click on remove button. Do not restart firefox after disabling before doing remove option. Otherwise it will stay on firefox installation folder.

I checked and it isn't in my extensions yet so I can't disable it. In my control panel I have AVG 2014, and another file that is simply AVG. When I try to uninstall it, it says a system reboot is required. I'm trying to avoid this so it won't install at all.

Thanks but these did not solve the problem.
