How do I move my address book from the hard drive of a defunct computer to a new computer?

My old computer running Windows Vista quit on me. I have removed the hard drive and connected it to my new computer which runs Windows 8.1. When I try to start Thunderbird from the old hard drive in order to access my address book, the version of Thunderbird just installed on the new computer comes up instead. How can I get to the address book data in order to transfer it?
