Firefox will not prompt me to save a password for a site. Previously it prompted me and I said "never for this site". I changed my mind and went into exceptions and removed the site. I also tried several things off the forum. It still will not prompt me for this site.

You can inspect and manage permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:

  • Click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
  • Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected

Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab.

You can inspect and manage permissions for all domains on the about:permissions page.

Some websites may be coded in a way the Firefox doesn't detect this as a login form with a name and password. In such a case you should at least be able to use the Saved Password Editor extension to save the password to the Password Manager to avoid forgetting these credentials, but Firefox may not enter name and password in the form either automatically or show the name in the drop-down list if you start typing the name.

Thanks for your quick reply. I don't think that is the issue. Firefox prompted me previously and I said "never for this site". I changed my mind and removed it from the exceptions, and FF will not prompt me again.

Here is the link to the site that will not prompt me.

I get a login page if I open the link in a tab. All the fields on this page have an autocomplete=off attribute (the email and password at the top and in the two sections on the page), but that shouldn't prevent Firefox from saving name (email) and password.

I notice that the page opens in a frame, so you can try to right-click in the login form and select "This Frame > Open Frame in New Tab"

Thank you, but that still did not work.

one thing I noticed though, was that when I tried "forget this site" in settings it did not remove it from my favorite bar. I don't know if this is significant or not
