How can I prevent Yahoo7 from hijacking every connection that I make to Firefox?

Firefox has been set to be my default browser. But every time I click onto a link in an email message or from a Google search, the connection is displayed in Firefox, but within a couple of seconds Yahoo7 appears, and tells me 404 that the page cannot be displayed. When I try to go back, the connection is disabled. I have removed all references to Yahoo that I can find in my computer and preferences, but it still keeps coming back. My Mac at home does not seem to be so affected (touch wood!) so I suspect that some malware has infected by computer at work, but cannot find it.

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
