i clicked on your thread, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1097126 because the error i get in tor browser is: "Unable to find the proxy server Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that can't be found.

Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.
Check to make sure your computer has a working network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Tor Browser is permitted to access the Web."

ive done this, - and everything in your link above - to no avail. Now Tor isn't connecting to the net. i Have 'net link or i wouldn't be able to type to you. i'd "share data" ... but This isn't the browser that "broke" so that would mislead you. if i can't make this work? its uninstall / reinstall and if that doesn't work? Then i can't use you. But i loved using your productS for YearS. so i'm really hoping you can fix this. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks again.

You can check the connection settings.

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

What are the current connection settings in Firefox?

Did you try the 'no proxy' choice?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
