how to get new tab to open as home page

Every time I go to "File" then "New Tab" the new tab opens with an unidentified search box not my home page, ie Google how do I set Firefox to open the "New Tab" with my home page?

The search container in the New Tab page is your default search engine, the same as used in the default Homepage, the Location Bar and the separate Search Bar.

As far as specifically having your Homepage open in a New Tab, you'll need to install an add-on such as this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/
