Search bar lets me type inside it but gives no suggestions and after I press enter nothing happens. When I select "Change select settings" it takes me to the "preferences" window that is supposed to manage search engines but NO engine is there for me to select. Just empty selection fields.

Safe mode solves nothing. Any suggestion?

Everything worked amazingly on previous version, these problems emerged after the upgrade to version 48. [Linux Mint 18 64bit on a Thinkpad laptop, used update manager for the upgrade]

Chosen solution

Hello biller, please try to change in about:config the next preference

  • distribution.searchplugins.defaultLocale

from "data:text/plain,distribution.searchplugins.defaultLocale=en-US" to "en-US"

If you have a different locale, en-GB for example, change it to en-GB

any luck ?

thank you
