I have just set up Thunderbird and am receiving incoming emails but receive the following message when sending messages

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.7.1 <sue.allerton@gmail.com>... Relaying denied: You must check for new mail before sending mail..

Please check the message recipient "sue.allerton@gmail.com" and try again.
I have spoken to my ISP and I have set-up the outgoing server details correctly.

Can you help please.
