I have a new desktop pc with win10 home edition. After few seconds my thunderbird crashes. No plugins installed yet, just the IMAP synchronization running. Same mail account makes no problems on other PCs.

Can I post the text of the crash report here?

Thanks for helping!!

Since english is not my mother tongue, i was a bit confused about crash IDs and crash reports. Since I had numerous crashs yesterday I do not know to which one the text I posted above was belonging. My new crash this morning had the crash ID

bp-0961fdc4-ef0f-4928-8467-52b310180119

I could also post the crash report details that appeared in the smalll window after this crash, but as far as I understood this was not the main information you would need for checking for possible errors. Is this correct?

Thanks a lot in advance!

This is an OOM (out of memory) crash. What add-ons do you have installed?

Try to start Thunderbird in safe mode. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

Does the problem go away?

I could also post the crash report details that appeared in the smalll window after this crash, but as far as I understood this was not the main information you would need for checking for possible errors. Is this correct?

Correct, just the crash ID is needed.

Thanks for your reply! There are no add-ons installed, this is a very fresh installation. Starting in the safe mode does not change the problem, the program freezes after approx. 5 - 10 seconds and crashes.

Because you said it is an OOM problem, I checked for the memory. I have 8 gb installed, only about 40% are in use. Before the crash, it goes to 50%, but there is to my understanding enough memory available.

thanks in advance for furhter suggestions.

The article is also available in German https://support.mozilla.org/de/kb/mozilla-absturzmelder-thunderbird but don't feel bad, you are not the first person to misunderstand. :)

Christ1 cites useful information. If it does not stay open in safe mode you might also try using

 -offline

command line switch.

Another possibility is a bad folder. Try deleting Inbox.msf file (but not Inbox file itself)
