Thunderbird. Added an additional account, but it won't show up

Created a Thunderbird EMail account. Worked OK. Created an additional account which went through the process OK, (found the mail server, set the proper POP3, SMTP data) but the account won't show up in the controls of the left hand side.

Normally pop accounts are set to use he global inbox in local folders so there is no additional account in the list in the left. IMAP accounts can not use the global inbox and as Thunderbird default is IMAP folk have come to expect an account entry in the folder pane.
