Hello,
Could you tell us please when and where "we" said that ?
You're asking why Firefox disabled your downloader - we would then have to ask you what downloader you are talking about. Like : did you have an downloader add-on (= extension) installed, and if so : which one, cause there are many downloader extensions on the addons.mozilla.org page.
Your current profile shows that you only posted one question (this one right here) - my guess is that, when you made the switch from your Mozilla Support account to your current Firefox account, something went wrong, and the two accounts weren't linked. Could it be that you used a different email address when you switched to your Firefox account ?
See : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-accounts-mozilla-support-faq
Back to your problem about Firefox having disabled your downloader :
Would you please tell us what downloader you are talking about ?
My second guess is (as apparantly you don't have a downloader add-on installed) that something goes wrong when you try to dowload something, in which case maybe you could check your settings in Preferences => General => Files and Applications :
Downloads Applications
It had a downloader app installed and they disabled it on August 1 because of some add on

And who said where that it was disabled because of some add-on ?
There's nothing we can do if you don't give us more information .....
It said the converter has been disabled (also a radio) because "these add on s violate Mozilla's add on policies by collecting ancillary user data. I assume that is the youtube downloader? There is no button to download youtube videos
thank you for the thoughtful response of the first responder. THere is only one firefox account. I actually posted this three times. One I don't think got here, the second I have no idea how to access once I leave it. I installed the youtube downloader

I assume this is the youtube downloader because I don't see any option to down load youtube videos. Again, I have no idea what an add on is
First, let me try to explain what an add-on is :
"Add-on" is the collective name for extensions, plugins, themes and dictionaries. When you go to Preferences => Add-ons you'll see what I'm talking about. (you can also type in the address bar about:addons and then press Enter)
What you told us so far it sounds like you had a "dodgy" YouTube downloader installed (but it's all a bit vague).
Anyway, you need a good, working YouTube downloader, and here are a few you could try to see which will work best for you :
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/easy-youtube-video-download/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-download-plus/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-download-hd-download/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube_downloader/
The last one has the title that you mention - if that is the one that was disabled, I would definately not download it again this
time .....
Any good ?
thank you Mr (?) McCoy for your answer which does not appear in this feed but is in my email
I did look at about: addons and I don't believe mozilla add-ons were the problem.
I never said dodgy youtube downloader. It was the mozilla downloader which is what I am trying to get to work
I went to system preferences, and it says nothing about add ons.
As I said I went to your first link and the only choice was to uninstall https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/easy-youtube-video-download/
I will try the others but how do I know that you won't disable them for some body else's add-on that I know nothing about
making some progress. The download plus is on now my computer. (although I fear running into the add on disablers in the future) When I press it , it leads me to a page about contributions However, The download button reappeared on the youtube video It is making me go through something called music search. Then it took me to enjoy your products with something about wikipedia.
In the end it failed because it said quick time cannot open it why can't quicktime open what I downloaded from mozilla?
great now I just received soemthing saying I have 3 viruses. which I suspect is from trying to get something to download the video I made. I can't turn the computer off or I will lose contact with you forever
I know you never said "dodgy" youtube downloader - that was just my interpretation .....
You get email notifictions when someone posted in your thread - you then just click on the blue link at the bottom of that notification to get to your thread (which you did, right ?).
You say that you went to system Preferences; my bad - I should have said Firefox Preferences ( I just assumed that was obvious - sorry ... )
I'm puzzled about where you say :
" As I said I went to your first link and the only choice was to uninstall https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/easy-youtube-video-download/ "
Is that the downloader you had installed and was disabled ?
Then you say :
"I will try the others but how do I know that you won't disable them for some body else's add-on that I know nothing about"
That will never happen. An add-on (extension) will only be disabled (by the browser, not us, contributors on this suport forum) when there is a very good reason to do so.
But you just go ahead and try one that sounds good to you and let us know if it does what you need/want, okay ?
And to answer you first question in your last post : it is not "Mr"......
It said I have 2 malware and one phishing probably from trying all morning to download my own video
why did you deactivate my downloader said

I feel like I'm reading some kind of SciFi book right now .....
What is "It" (as in : "It said .... ") ?
Yes I said all that. My browser is Firefox which I thought was connected to Mozilla
OK it is not Mr. Whoops I will just address you as McCoy (seems rude but don't want another whoops.
Why won't it play on quick time as I pressed mp4
it means my computer. A big alert about malware and phishing installed in my computer
why does it say quicktime won't play your download?
which of your programs will allow me to play on quicktime?
It seems the malware or phishing (if it was real) just occurred when I clicked your required link which said something about music. I am hoping that is just someone phishing

Mozilla is the company that makes Firefox (the browser).
Why won't it play on quick time as I pressed mp4
I don't know what "it" is ..... I never download anything from YouTube, but my colleague FredMcD does - I'll ask him to come to your rescue.
it says quick tiem player can't open " name of file- mp4. I checked quick time and it says 2009 - 2016
