Search bar doesn't show list of suggestions since the last update (nightly), seems bugged out

I used to get a list of suggestions and previously visited websites when I clicked on the search bar, now it just shows a hint of the list, like it's there but you can't see it.

Thank you. I already tried everything you said, several times. Also, I'm using the default theme, what you see in the screenshot is just the high contrast theme on windows 7, I already tried disabling that as well to no avail.

If that megabar they're working on is the source of the problem I'll just have to wait.

Also, apparently you can set "browser.urlbar.megabar" to false, that seems to fix the bug.

Are you using a userChrome.css file ?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or a possible userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Note that there are lot of changes and possible bugs with implementing the megabar in Firefox 71.
