I have had to change my gmail password on another account, so have also changed it in Thunderbird, but now I cannot send/receive emails in Thunderbird, although I can on my phone and tablet, which both now use the changed password. I changed my password in the Thunderbird “Saved Logins” page but it would not work, but the entry there originally was something totally different from my password, although unfortunately I did not note the wording before I replaced it with my new password. When I try to send a message I get the popup “Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again.” I also sometimes get the message “Login to server imap.gmail.com with username ……….@gmail.com failed” Under saved logins the entry for my gmail account is: Oauth://accounts.google.com (https:mail.google.com/) with my gmail address as username, plus the password, which is accepted by my phone and tablet. I have two email accounts, the other works normally, but with the gmail account instead of the cursor showing it is the hourglass. I also How can I restore normality

Any likelihood of solving the problem or should I just go ahead and delete Thunderbird, then the profile and then re-install?

No emails received in Thunderbird since 27 January - I am now using the inferior MS Mail.

Is there any error message? You may also check the error console for any related messages (Ctrl-Shift-J).

Did you clear the passwords Thunderbird has remembered as suggested? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1280929#answer-1294515

What about the second identity? You haven't responded to that. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1280929#answer-1294477

To confirm your current settings, please post again your Troubleshooting Information. Just the 'Mail and News Accounts' section will do.

Up to you, but as explained before, re-installing the application will be a waste of time. If nothing else helps, creating a new profile may be worth a try. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/using-multiple-profiles

I have set up a new profile as detailed and set it as default. I then entered the gmail details and it worked. I then added the talktalk account and that worked as well. I am greatly relieved - thank you very much
