I have been using Thunderbird to read my Gmail account. I had to change my Google password and Thunderbird won't accept the new password. WHY?? If I delete the account and start over, won't I lose most of my old emails?

Chosen solution

If you changed the password, delete the old ones in Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, check that the authentication method is OAuth2 in Server Settings, restart TB, and enter the new password when prompted.
