I haven't been able to send emails since Friday.

I verified from Siteground that it is not on their end.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

 "Spring Rayne < .. "@yahoo.com
   host mta6.am0.yahoodns.net [67.195.204.79]
SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:<"Spring Rayne < .. "@yahoo.com>:
501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments tnmpmscs

Check for contact/email address in the address book:

Example which causes error: With name details as First: Peter Last: Foo email address: peter@somwhere.com where there is an inserted space before the name peter, of course this is not instantly noticeable, but it is as if you had hit the space bar just before typing the email address.

Then if I use the Contacts Sidebar in a Write message, it will add the email address like this: Peter Foo <" peter"@somewhere.com> which of course in invalid.

So check all instances of that email address in all of your Address Books. Clear and rewrite the email address correctly making sure there is no space at the start nor any space within the email address.

If it is the email address of a mail account then also check the Account Settings. Right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Settings' Default Identity - Check the Email Address- competely remove and add it again correctly - no spaces at the start. If you have more than one identity - click on 'Manage Identities' button Then you can select identity - click on 'Edit' and make sure the 'Email Address' is correct - no spaces at the start. Then exit Thunderbird - wait for background processes to complete and then restart Thunderbird.

It is every email I send. I know all the contacts are correct. Does anyone know what the syntax error is?

You have " in email id. I believe that is incorrect. I think it should be "Spring Rayne" < .. @yahoo.com

Fix the misaligned " in email id.

Thank you! I see it now! Why did this happen to all my contacts all of a sudden? Is there an update that will fix it, so I don't have to manually correct everything?

One option would be to export to csv or other format, do a change in some other software, whether text editor or spreadsheet, delete existing addressbook and then import. That's the only way I know.

What version of Thunderbird are you using? I've been attempting to recreate the problem, but Thunderbird new pill format will show errors before I can attempt to send.

Please offer info on the exact process you are using when you want to create email.

When you want to create email, do you open 'Write' and then use the 'Contacts Sidebar' to select and add contacts to eg: TO ?

Or do you open Write and then copy pasting a load of email addresses from an external text file?
