UPS tracking after installing their My Choice won't work in FF

more options

I was tracking a package on the UPS website. I decided to sign up for their My Choice program. After I did that I could no longer track packages I just get the error "We are unable to complete your tracking request at this time. Please try again later.". I contacted them, UPS, and they had me try several things and the only one that would work is to use Chrome. Fire Fox will work if I use a private window. Whew do I go to fix this?

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content. You can click shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection. You can check the Web Console for relevant-looking messages about blocked content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Settings).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> [X] Cached Web Content -> Clear

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

Okay, So when i did all the things cor-el had suggested, it actually worked. I think it was when I cleared all cookies and cache is when the website began working normally again. So here is what I did: 1. Turned off Firefox advanced tracking. - no fix. 2. Turned off DuckDuckGo protection. - no fix. 3. Enabled Tracking Content in Settings. - no fix. 4. Rebooted Firefox in troubleshoot mode. - no fix. 5. CTRL+F5 refresh. - no fix. 6. clear all cookies and cache. - FIXED!!! 7. Then I methodically have gone back and re-enabled everything. The site worked until... 8. Enabled Block Tracking Content in all windows under Settings - Website BROKE! 9. To fix the UPS.com site I had to remove Block Tracking Content setting and delete all cookies/cache again. 10. I went to another computer with this problem and confirmed the fix. Uncheck Block Tracking Content, Clear all cookies/cache, reload the site, and it worked.

So, there you have it. I had tried all this stuff but never in this order before. Thank you cor-el for the post it really did help.
