Hello Mozilla, I think this is the 2nd machine I'm noticing this on but Firefox completely ignores my wish to save all downloads to my Downloads folder and insists everything has to be saved to the Desktop which is ridiculous. I've checked Settings and I've even went as far as trying to determine an issue in about:config but still a problem. I've come to the conclusion this is a serious bug in 108.0.2 Desktop folder appears to be hard-coded in a place I don't have access to. Please fix this. Steve

Oh...a second issue is that I have the "Display the progress of ongoing downloads (Ctrl+J)" icon permanently on my extension toolbar where I want it. I used to be able to click that and it showed a long list of downloads even after exiting and restarting Firefox. Now it clears the list in between sessions. I prefer that over opening a separate Library window (clicking "Show all downloads" that doesn't tell me the actual folder I'm in. Bottom line is that all downloads without exception have to be locked into going to downloads folder. I've been using Firefox for over 10 years consistently and it always worked that way before. With regard to your first question, check the preference in the following quotation from searchfox. org.

browser.download.folderList - int 0 - The desktop is the default download location. 1 - The system's downloads folder is the default download location. 2 - The default download location is elsewhere as specified in browser.download.dir [not a preference]. 3 - The default download location is elsewhere as specified by cloud storage API getDownloadFolder

Hello Terry, I actually just needed to restart Firefox after the changes I made in about:config The key seemed to be making "browser.download.useDownloadDir" true. It may have been set to "false" which means my custom setting for "browser.download.dir" was being ignored. Steve
