about:config handoff DOES NOT WORK

more options

All new tabs give me a cursor in the ADDRESS BAR. This is unacceptable. There is a nice search window in the middle of the page, but the cursor never goes there. It appears in the ADDRESS BAR. I did the about:config handoff crap and it was crap. Is there a FIX? If so, what is it? If not, I'm using edge.

That is how Firefox has worked for as long as I can remember. Why doesn't that work for you?

The hand-off setting is for after you click in the search box in the page, keeping the search there instead of flipping it up to the address bar. You still need to click in the search box.

One possible workaround is to use an add-on to set your new tab page to your preferred search site (it also can tell Firefox to put the cursor in the page):

So, there is no fix. This microsoft in a different wrapper. Goodbye.
