When starting a new message Thunderbird always includes in the message a person file loaded as a picture.

See the two dashes above the picture on the left? That's an indication that what you're seeing is something you've configured Thunderbird to include as part of your signature, so check your account Identity signature settings, in particular Attach the signature from a file.
