maybe there is an add on for this or something I couldn't find? I only want to setup a password for accessing history and options (settings); I don't want to set a master password so that every time somebody opens the browser they should insert it, I want them to be able to start firefox and browse the web with no problems whatsoever, I just don't want them to have access to my history and to modify my settings

thank you in advance for your time !

There is an add-on that allows you to do this, Public Fox.

Though this can be used to password protect parts of Firefox, a knowledgeable user will be able to bypass this, for example they could start Firefox in safe mode which will disable add-ons.
