how do i resume a large file download if the connection is reset from the reset point - can i do this with firefox?

my internet connection is not fantastic and i need to download large files - the connection gets dropped mid way through the download and when i want to resume the download starts from the very begining. I there a way to reume from the break off point or from that point when the connection is reset

There is no setting to change, Firefox will resume the download providing the server supports this. If the server you are downloading from does not support resuming downloads you will have to start the download again.
