How come I'm forced to update my Firefox version when I don't want to?

Yea, I'd like to know why it is I'm forced to update the version to another Firefox version? I'll get a little box pop up saying there's a update version. I ignore it, but as time goes on, it forces an update. This will happen every month or 2. First of all, I hate that, & second, it always runs slower than the previous versions. No, it's got nothing to do w/clearing my cache, or anything like that, or my firewall, or security, cuz it's all good.

Will the force update of 24 april overrule the unchecked box of the automatic update preferences? I don't want to update version 3.6.28

If checking for updates is disabled then Firefox shouldn't update the current installation.
