I downloaded Firefox to my Macbook, but when I drag it to the dock and open it, I get a blank Firefox window and so can't run Firefox.

Firefox shows properly downloaded with 18.7 meg. I dragged from the download folder into the Applications folder. When I try to drag from the Apps folder to the Dock, Firefox will not stay in the dock but instead shows on the desktop. When I click on the Firefox logo on the desktop, a Firefox window appears, with no options to do anything.
