This is not a question so much as a (hopefully) helpful fix to this problem.

Firstly, I'm running 32 bit Vista Home Premium SP2, so that's all I can say for sure this works for, but I'd give it a go on another OS if need be.

Go to http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html and download Spybot S&D, install it then update it.

Next, go to http://www.surfright.nl/en/downloads/ and get Hitman Pro 3.5.

1. Run Hitman, fix whatever problems it finds.

2. Restart in safe mode and run Spybot S&D. It should come up with 2 malware detections and one security detection. There could be more if you're infected with something else and don't know it, I'm just assuming this is the only thing you have.

3. Restart in Safe Mode with Networking. Run Hitman again, this time it should come up with nothing.

4. Restart as normal and reset your homepage in the options menu. Close out of FF and restart it, you should start back up at the homepage you just set.

Hope this helps.

FASTEST SOLUTION IS TO RENAME..NOTHING ELSE IS NEEDED!

To rid yourself of this problem, all you need to do is rename the file User.js located in C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\edbhcl86.default <---This last folder will be different for everyone Once you get to this location, just rename User.js to User.js.bak Next, you want to goto Tools|Options|General and change your home page and click OK. Now to test the results by click the home button in firefox to see if its your home page you selected.

This solution is for people running Windows 7.
