Bookmarks appear in new window even though parent window's bookmarks aren't displayed
I have Firefox 4.0.
Sometimes (maybe 10% of the time), I will click a link to open in a new window, and the bookmarks will appear on the left-hand side in the new window, even though they are not open in the original/parent window.
Granted, it's a minor annoyance, but I was wondering whether there's a fix on my end for it.

Opening in the side bar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.
You can check the Properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the side bar (Ctrl+B; Cmd+B on Mac).
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the side bar" is not selected.
First, in Firefox 4.0, there doesn't seem to be a "Organize Bookmarks" toolbar item or sub-item.
Second, CTRL-B only turned the left-side bookmark display on or off. Clicking CTRL-SHIFT-B displayed the bookmark manager.
Third, my issue was not with any existing bookmark, but with what happens after clicking a link in the Firefox browser window, whether or not it is in my bookmarks.
"Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in Firefox 4.
Do you mean that you see an open Bookmarks sidebar in that new window?
In that case see:
