I cannot get my search engine to change back to Google from Yahoo. Also, one of the reasons that I really like firefox is that I could just type in the name of the website and firefox would automatically take me there (ie cnn) and I didn't have to put the .com. Now it takes me to yahoo where I have to click on the site. Arggg! Very frustrating. I tried doing the about:config and changing the search engine back to Google but Yahoo comes right back when I restart. Can you please help me? I really did love firefox and recommended it to all of my friend too.

Hi sunni1day,

You should look at the article Preferences not saved it might be an issue with the pref.js file. Then once you can change your search engine in the search bar, you should look at Location bar search for steps to change the key word search engine as well.

Hopefully this helps!

Are you sure that it is Firefox and not your ISP oder DNS provider? Have you tried to delete Yahoo from your list of search engines? You can do this by clicking the small down arrow next to the Google/Yahoo search box and then selecting "Manage Search Engines..." then select Yahoo and "Remove". See further information here: Search bar
