Firefox crashes upon startup every time
Our power went out unexpectedly and then Windows had a hard time restarting. I had to restore the settings to a snapshot of the system one month ago for me to be able to use Windows again.
Now Mozilla won't start, and every time I click on the Firefox icon, a crash report message appears.

-> Update Firefox to the latest version 10
-> Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly)
Check and tell if its working.
Firefox does not always restore well that way. {edit <-- using Windows restore snapshots does not always create all files correctly ) You may have to do a clean reinstall, after deleting the firefox program folder. Take care in doing this:
- do NOT use any options from Windows or Firefox that suggest removing personal settings, or you will loose passwords and bookmarks.
- see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Clean_reinstall
note you are trying to retain your personal data and not delete any profile files
- Download firefox installation file (using any working browser) from getfirefox.com
- Delete from your computer the Firefox programs folder, for the faulty install as explained above.
- Find the downloaded install file and click or doubleclick to run it
Note there is likely to be a new version of firefox Firefox 10.0.1 released within a few days, some users are having problems with 10.0 causing crashes.
It is possibly not worth following up on your crash ID at present, but please obtain and post them again if the new re-install also crashes. (See my recent post /917748#answer-308124 /questions/917748#answer-308124 for general info re the new crashes {edit Thanks for the pm Hasan, link fixed)

I had issues with not finding my "back" arrow in firefox. Called HP. They had me delete program and reinstall firefox> I did but realized that all my bookmarks were gone so HP recommended I do a restore system. I did and now firefox crashed when clicking icon and does not open. I understand that I could delete and download again. The main reason is that I want to find my bookmarks. Any suggestions? Thanks. P.S: I wish he told me to save my bookmarks on my computer...found out afterwards you can do that!

If you need further advice it is possibly better to start your own thread. We are not sure at the moment what files you may have available.
Hi John99,
Sorry not sure I understand what you meant.
Just read the process. It seems that to do this I need to be able to access Firefox and cannot do this. Everytime I now click on the firefox icon on my computer it gives me a crash report. I tried to enter my report number to check but it denies it and nothing gets resolve
Completely Close Firefox before performing the following suggestions:
-> Create a New Profile
- Basic Troubleshooting - Make a New Profile
- Don't Start Firefox
-> Download Latest Firefox version using some other web browser
- http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/
- Install latest Firefox -> Installing Firefox
-> Finally, start Firefox from the New Profile
-> IF the New Profile works then you can recover your History, Bookmarks and Passwords from the Old Profile.
Check and tell if its working.
