Have tried the usual trouble shooting. When changing the page style to 'No Style' - the text displays.

Manually disabling all addons and plugins doesn't fix the issue however when using Firefox in safemode, the text appears fine.

Changing the character encoding does not alleviate the issue. Running windows 7 x64 with all the latest updates and the latest firefox.

Chrome displays twitter and tumblr fine.

Chosen solution

Great success. I uncheked hardware acceleration and started again this time and the text diplays, albeit a bit strangely. I tried this earlier so I'm guessing the graphics driver fixed something... Here's a screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/Jw4Vk.jpg

Does this mean to browse I'll have to make sure hardware acceleration stays off? Are there any negative effects towards doing this?

Have you read Websites look wrong?

Since this works in safe mode, I'm going to have you try to update your graphics driver to see if this is a problem with Hardware acceleration. Please read this article.

Hey Tyler, thanks for your reply. I've tried everything mentioned in the 'Websites look wrong' page and have just tested disabling hardware acceleration but unfortunetly no improvement.

Downloading the latest ATI Catalyst drivers (12.2) from 11.1 to see if that improves.

Hey Tyler, currently running AMD Catalyst 12.3 and unfortunetly, no improvement.

Try creating a fresh testing profile, an let's see if it will work there.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles can help you with creating a new profile.

Thanks Tyler. No luck on the new profile. I've also checked IE and it also seems to have the same issue.

Chrome and FF in safe mode are the only times text will appear correctly.

Ok, do this for me. Click on the Firefox button, then Options. Inside options, go to the Advanced tab. Under General (inside Advanced), uncheck the use hardware acceleration.

If that does not work, start Firefox in safe mode again, except this time, when the small window pops up that has several checkboxes, check the "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" box. Then after safe mode there, try again in normal mode.

Unfortunately, it appears as if your graphics driver isn't working properly with Firefox's hardware acceleration :(

Hardware acceleration does make browsing the web somewhat faster, as well as rendering some types of webpages. So, you can browse without, and it won't be totally detrimental, but we do want to try to get you running with the Full Firefox experience.

Try doing this for me as well. Run Windows Update several times to make sure you install all the updates that are available for your computer. After running them all, see if it is better with Hardware acceleration turned on. This may be something we have to file a bug on with the developers.

Oh dear ha. Windows Update hasn't got any any more available updates apart from some optional language packs in foreign tongues. Twitter/Tumblr Dashboard still haven't don't render properly with it ticked.

If there's anyway I can help with logging the bug, please let me know.

Thanks again for the help. Will let you know if anything improves in the future.
