No email thru Firefox for 24hrs. Checked V-Media, they remote-accessed my PC, IE worked OK. Assuming it must be Firefox.

I can't access my Virgin Media email thru Firefox since yesterday morning. Checked with V-Media, they remote-accessed my computer and opened up Internet Explorer, and were able to access my email just fine, so I have to assume the fault is with Firefox.

Can you help please?

I'm using Windows XP, been on Virgin Media for years, no problems to speak of, used Firefox for years, also no problems. This problem came out of the blue yesterday. Took ages for the mail client to open, then the emailes wouldn't open.

Chosen solution

Given up on waiting for this to be fixed, looks like it never will. However, I've tried "Use Basic HTML", assuming it might do for now, but I find that it not only works (the problem isn't affecting it), but it's quite acceptable. It's quality is not reduced in any way, and in fact the user interface is better, in my opinion. For one thing, I can see mails far better (they use more of the screen) and all the stuff on the left side is neater and always visible, not 'hiding' under other bits of the 'stuff'.

For my money, it's better, and I've clicked to save it as my preference.

I have exactly the same problem both at work and home. I have not changed anything or upgraded. It just started yesterday afternoon. I spent around 20 minutes on to Virgin this morning and they blamed Firefox. When I try to log in the progress bar goes to about 90% and freezes, I can log in if I press "use Basic HTML"

Terry, I'll try that when I can ("use basic HTML"). At the moment, it's stuck again at about 90% and won't let me in. I struggled this morning to get into Virgin Media forums (had to sign up, fill in passwords, all that bull), then the same at Firefox. I was so frustrated I ended up punching myself in the head. God know how people cope who aren't computer literate.

I had to enter about 20 different usernames because they were all, for some reason, "inappropriate". In the end, the only one that worked was my first name and my mother's maiden name. Totally crazy!

Then (after searching high and low) I couldn't find a link to get back into the forum to look for replies. Only saw yours because it got copied to my email address (which obviously I can only view in IE!).

At times like this, I'd take a shotgun to my PC if I had one.

If you manage to get to the bottom of this I'd appreciate it if you'd send me a quick note. I'll do the same for you, naturally.

Cheers, mate.

Hi Ken

I'll certainly let you know if I find the fault. Mine works in IE as well I'm going to try Opera to see what happens, By the way I'm using win7 on a 64bit machine. As you say you think you know computers fairly well until you contact a help centre. I've still got suspicions it might be Virgin,

Hmm, ok in Opera.

Still waiting to see anything happen. I'm used to Firefox, otherwise I'd be trying another browser. I don't want to use anything else. Certainly don't want to use IE, hand enough problems with that years ago. Just have to wait and see if things improve.
