I recently upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8 pro on the same laptop. all updates fine. when I launch firefox 18 my screen switches to half the set size and back upon each firefox action and then reopens to original screen size setting. it is very frustrating. how can i fix this without having to reset firefox and lose all my addons/firefox settings ? firefox worked fine initially after windows upgrade but a week later i have this problem. maybe i have a new addon that not compatible ?

Check that you do not run Firefox in compatibility mode or with a reduced screen resolution.

You can open the Properties of the Firefox desktop shortcut via the right-click context menu and check the "Compatibility" tab.

Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

You can check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.
