After the most recent update, why does FF now makes a sound when opening web pages?

When I load a web page on FF a sound is produced. This started happening after updating to 32.0.3. I would very much like to silence this. TIA

Chosen solution

  1. Are you using the NoScript extension? It provides a "mosquito" buzz sound when a script is blocked. NoScritpt Options > Notifications -> Audio feedback when scripts are blocked
  2. Check the "sounds" in the Windows Control Panel. A recent Windows update may have turned it on.
