When I open a new tab the thumbnails are so large only 2 can be seen. After using ctr and mouse wheel to make them smaller I find 9 to 12 thumbnails. Usually arranged in two rows.

Hello,

If you want to set a fixed number of tiles, I believe you can do so with the following extension:

You can also see jscher2000's Chosen Solution here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1025414 It requires the Stylish add-on but will automatically shrink the tiles on the page:

You can also add the CSS code to the userContent.css file.

The customization files userContent.css (websites) and userChrome.css (user interface) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

I appreciate your time and help. Will give your suggestions a try. Thank you.

This isn't related to your question, but I noticed you have an experimental ad blocking extension that hasn't been updated since 2012. You might have better results if you remove that one and install the regularly updated Adblock Plus extension.

I downloaded the add-on:: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-tools/ .... but it didn't fix my problem. I still get a search engine box when I open a new tab. Why didn't the add-on work even though it states it's been downloaded. There are absolutely NO tabs, button, boxes or anything showing up when I open a new tab. I have Firefox 33.0.
