Within the past week or so, my Thunderbird account started to go very slow, and shows a message up top - Not Responding. The program then crashes or I have to shut it down to get out. It was working well for the first couple of months, but for some reason it started this on its own. I am not very computer literate, and to my knowledge have not changed any computer settings. I have used Mozilla ever since Netscape was discontinued and have not had this type of problem before. Firefox seems to be working okay. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Matt, but I am having some difficulties with trying to see if my McAfee Anti Spam is the problem. Do I go to Thunderbird Tools to disable McAfee Anti Spam Thunderbird Extension? I couldn't find the headings as they show under the Solutions for Antivirus Software - McAfee. I did go to McAfee and opened it and Disabled Anti Spam under McAfee's Web and Email Program. I am not sure if I was supposed to do this under McAfee or Thunderbird. I couldn't find the links by clickling on Tools on the Thunderbird program. Sorry as you can see, I am not very literate with computers and as a result can't follow what should probably be simple instructions. Have I done anything that could cause possible harm to my computer. BTW, I am using Windows 8 and am finding it very much different from what I had previously used at work which was XP, and my previous home computer which had Windows 7.

Things seem to be working now, and hopefully I still have my emails protected etc. Happy to be back working with Thunderbird. Thank you Larry

The simple solution I recommend it go to the McAfee online support site. They will remotely tune the McAfee installation so it works. (there are lots of solutions as this has been going on for years now with McAfee and every 6 months or so their is another release and a new problem. As I don't use McAfee I just can't keep up with the issues they are creating.
