Report attack site
Every few minutes my AVAST antivirus service reports this malware site:
URL: http://sso.anbtr.com/domain/local.swarmcast.net Process: Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe
This has been happening for over 48 hours.
Can this site be blocked by Firefox before triggering the antivirus report?
Chosen solution
Firefox does block that site already and displays an attack page warning.
You need to figure out why you keep visiting that site every few minutes.
Maybe you have an open tab that is on that page or trying to redirect to that page. Otherwise you may have adware or malware on your computer already. I suggest scanning with multiple and up to date tools.
Please post back to say what you tried and what you found.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Thank you for your reply John. I downloaded and ran several of the programs you listed. For a while each time a new package was installed, a message would appear saying that had malware too! Although none of the programs reported finding malware, the warning messages now no longer appear and the computer seems to be working normally. In addition to the AVAST package that I had before, I now run SUPER AntiSpyware each day. So won't worry until next time
Glad it seems to be ok now. Thanks for posting back.
I will mark the thread as solved, but if the problem re occurs you may remove the marking and reopen the thread. (At least until forum software archives old threads in I think 3 months time)
