W10 system. FireFox was working fine for about 2 weeks, (new computer early Dec) then after an update (flash update I believe) have been having problems with not playing videos or images requiring flash. Sometimes the video thumb view displays, but not always. Clicking on the selection will open as if it will play but eventually 'An error occurred.....' message. I have done the 'Refresh', cleared cache, tried 'safe mode', and normally only run with 3 or 4 plug-ins, flash being one.

43.0.3 firefox 20.0.0.267 flashplayer

Some web pages do not display properly. Attaching some screen captures.

      • SORRY, i CLICKED THE 'AUTOMATICALLY ADD' AND I AM USING CHROME INSTEAD OF FIREFOX DUE TO PAGE DISPLAY ISSUES

What is your computer system and Firefox?

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.

  • Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
  • Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

Prior to my original post I had tried most tests. The only item that was not, was to turn of 'Hardware Acceleration'. I tested with it turned off, but no improvement. Same problems continue. And included in the initial post is the operating system, version of FireFox, and Adobe Flash.

Is the Shockwave Flash plugin used or the HTML5 media player?

You can check via the right-click context menu of the player area what kind of media player is used. A Flash based player shows a context menu with the Flash version.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

What security software do you have?

There is security software like Avast and Kaspersky and BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate or otherwise interfere with secure connection.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps.

Adapter Description (GPU #2): NVIDIA GeForce 840M

Do you have nvidia's network access manager or forceware network manager software installed? Disable / remove it. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/connectivity-crashing-firefox-43-update

Here is the Belarc report for NVIDA. Do not believe any 'network' managers installed or active. Does not show up in 'Apps and Features/Programs and Features' Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 [Display adapter] NVIDIA GeForce 840M [Display adapter] Generic PnP Monitor (17.1"vis, October 2011)

Also, I did not experience any problem with Firefox for the first 3 weeks of operating this new computer, no change to NVIDA drivers or software. It isn't just 43 version. I moved up to 43 from 42 hoping to solve the problem.

I am exploring the possibility of a corrupt User Account.
