If email is in the 'Junk' folder then it will not display remote content nor will it offer the option to show remote content. You have to select 'Not junk' so the email moves back to Inbox. Then it should display the message you refer to and display the 'options' button.

If you are talking about good emails in the Inbox that have disabled remote content and there is no message stating they have been switched off nor an Options button .....please check this:

'Menu icon > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Advanced' > 'General' tab click on 'Config editor' button In top search type: permissions look for this line: permissions.default.image

Q: What is the Status? 'User Set' or 'Default' Q: Is the font bold or normal ? Q: What is the Value ? 1 or 2 or 3 ?

If bold font, Status is 'User set' and Value is 2: Right click on the line and select 'Reset'. this should make the font normal, Status as default and Value as 1. close window - top right X click on OK

Q: Did this make the message and Options button reappear ?

Close and restart Thunderbird Q: Has the 'remote' message remained or disappeared again?

Check the Config editor again. Q: Has it returned to bold font, Status is 'User set' and Value is 2 ?

Q: What OS are you using? Q: What version of thunderbird are you currently using? Q: Did this occur after an update or reinstalling a backup profile?
