How can I set up to use multiple users in one ISP mailbox?
We have an email account with Wanadoo. All messages for users are delivered into one mailbox the format of the mail addresses are:
malcolm@name.wanadoo.co.uk; jimmy@name.wanadoo.co.uk; fred@name.wanadoo.co.uk etc.
I have set up Thunderbird to access the account using the malcolm@name.wanadoo.co.uk identity and it displays only the massages addressed to malcolm@name.wanadoo.co.uk when I download messages. I do not see the other messages for the other users. With Outlook all the messages for all the users got downloaded and displayed.
With Thunderbird are all the messages downloaded and I need to adjust some display filter? Or I could set up downloads for fred and jimmy but if I set the malcolm profile to remove the messages from the server will this remove all the messages before jimmy's messages can be downloaded or will only malcolm's messages be removed from the server?
Thank You
Malcolm

malkie38 saidHi Matt - that would be a workable solution but in simplifying the problem I reduced the number of mail names which I have in the single server mailbox so I would need a multitude of identities - or stop the proliferation of addresses. Anyway, thank for the help..Sorry, I fail totally to understand, do you want your mail in Thunderbird or not?
When you have multiple accounts there is the unified folders that aggregates inboxes etc if that is the sort of thing you want.
Hi Matt, yes I want to keep my mail in Thunderbird. I seem to have a solution by changing my User Name field to name.wanadoo.co.uk.
Thanks,
Malcolm

that is three email accounts, add all of them to Thunderbird.
If malcom, jimmy, and fred all use the same password you can set up jimmy and fred as identities underneath malcolm. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Mozilla_Suite_:_FAQs_:_Mail_Aliases

Hi Christi, I tried what you suggested and added another identity by gong to Tools > Account Settings > Manage Identities and Add. then setting jimmy@name.wanadoo.co.uk. Unfortunately none of jimmy's emals are downladed. Am I missing something?
