Firefox Quantum 57.0.1 (64-bit) sucks! Slow to load sites, or simply doesn't

Wish I hadn't updated to Firefox Quantum 57.0.1 (64-bit) on my Mac. Since I did, it has been MUCH slower loading tabs, or even failing to load sites at all. When I try the same URL on, say Chrome, it loads immediately.

I'm so tired of this that I'm just not going to use Firefox any more, unless someone has a solution to these issues. Anyone?
