I can't: open a Firefox window; open Firefox in safe mode; locate Firefox in the Task Manager; reinstall Firefox; access my profile. What to do? The computer seems convinced that Firefox is open even after several restarts. I can't uninstall or reinstall because of this. Totally lost. Any help appreciated.

Do you have the Firefox icon on your quick launch? Right click on it, and select Open New Window. Sometimes this works. If it opens, close it by Menu > File > Exit.
