Why does Firefox stop loading a video if the tab is not current?

more options

I have three monitors. If I put a video on one monitor, move a Firefox tab to any other monitor, the video will stop loading. Doesn't matter if it's Twitch or YouTube.

I assume there's a setting somewhere there does this, and please oh please, how do I remove that?

I believe that this is being fixed for Firefox 62, but is something that you can try to improve the situation. Do the following:

  1. Type about:config in the Firefox address bar
  2. Bypass the security warning
  3. Find the network.http.throttle.enable preference
  4. Change it to false
  5. Restart Firefox

Hope this helps.

NOTE: If you notice any negative performance impacts from this preference, you can repeat the steps above to change it back to true.
