google maps slow in Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9

Google maps extremely slow to load in Mac PRO Early 2008 running OS X Mavericks in Firefox 61.0.1 (64-bit), 2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 32GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB. Bing maps works fine.

Also lost a bookmark file. Can I get it back.
