I have moved my old firefox profile to a new computer (from pc to mac) and just migrated the profile.

I've been using the master password option for my profile on pc for years, but on the profile move to mac, when I launch firefox, everything seems to be working fine, except for passwords. I noticed by default master password was not enabled. I attempted to turn that on (it asked to create a new password and said an existing one was not set), but when I attempted to create it, it came up with an error saying master password can not be reset.

it shows no saved logins or passwords currently on the new mac profile

I've moved the profile from PC to PC in the past and didn't have this issue. I'm currently lost as to how to fix this.

Chosen solution

Try to delete pkcs11.txt in the profile folder as this is not a safe file to transfer.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

I didn't move a profile. FF started new with this new sync thing and no passwords showing up. I logged into lockwise and still NO passwords show up. You have lost over 100 passwords I had in FF. HOW can I get them back? I had them printed out and can't find it. Please help me. I had to put this as a reply 'cause I cant enter the question in here.
