The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

hi, the symptoms sound very similar to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1590430 - did you ever use comdo security products in the past or even if not, could you check if there's a file called IseGuard64.dll, IseGuard32.dll or similar located under C:\Windows\system32\ or your system drive and if so, delete that file?

more options

There is no IseGuard of any form. Thank you for trying to help.

There are no crash reports - all folders were deleted in previous attempts to correct.  ??

Is there any useful information in the Windows Event log about these crashes ?

Download the relevent 32 or 64 bit release of the previous version from the links underneath, select as per your language

32 bit at https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/70.0.1/win32/ 64 bit at https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/70.0.1/win64/

Should work fine, once installed go options disable automatic firefox updates for time being.

Hope it helps

Ok now how do I maintain the security without the updates? I tried to download the ESR version, but the PDF file would only open for about 20 seconds and then closed itself. Wasn't sure if I should continue with installation without instructions, LOL - mu luck on this stuff isn't great.

Extended Support Release is a great idea. 68.3.0esr would be the latest release. With the crashing, i would uninstall any other versions before installing a new one, but otherwise, there is nothing special about installing it:

https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/68.3.0esr/

If you really need the PDF, try to download manually and use various PDF readers to read it.

How in the world do I begin to install this ? Please be specific as I am no techie.

Assuming you are running a 64bit version of Windows for the United States, navigate to the download by clicking:

Navigate there manually starting here: [https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/r.../68.3.0esr/] then clicking "win64/" "en-US/" and then "Firefox Setup 68.3.0esr.exe"

You will need to logon as an administrator of the machine to successfully run the installation.

Or simply click on the following link: [https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/r.../Firefox%20Setup%2068.3.0esr.exe] https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/68.3.0esr/win64/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%2068.3.0esr.exe
