I'm setting up a new Windows 10 laptop. Running TB 68.7.

I want to migrate a very large tb profile folder. The folder is in X:\thunderbird.

X:\>dir thunderbird

Volume in drive X is xchange
Volume Serial Number is CC50-EEA0
Directory of X:\thunderbird

04/26/2020 12:53 <DIR> . 04/26/2020 12:53 <DIR> .. 04/26/2020 11:47 <DIR> Crash Reports 04/26/2020 18:38 <DIR> Profiles 07/30/2018 18:10 122 profiles.ini

              1 File(s) 122 bytes
              4 Dir(s) 141,674,098,688 bytes free

X:\>type thunderbird/profiles.ini The syntax of the command is incorrect.

X:\>type thunderbird\profiles.ini [General] StartWithLastProfile=1

[Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/qn7e7by4.default Default=1

AppData points to x:\thunderbird:

type appdata\roaming\thunderbird\profiles.ini [Install8216C80C92C4E828] Default=X:\thunderbird\Profiles\qn7e7by4.default Locked=1

[Profile1] Name=default-release IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/halmsdwl.default-release

[Profile0] Name=xchange IsRelative=0 Path=X:\thunderbird\Profiles\qn7e7by4.default Default=1

[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2

When I start TB, I get a dialog box:

You have launched an older version of Thunderbird.

Any help appreciated. I need those emails!

Chosen solution

I realized I had installed 32 bit TB. Uninstalled and installed 64 bit. That worked.

See the end of my post here. https://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com/2019/09/i-lost-my-profilemail-on-update-to.html under "Profile per install and downgrade protection"

more options

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\Thunderbird" -allow-downgraded

I'll try that when I get back to the machine, but I haven't "downgraded". I'm running 68.7, which seems to be the most recent.
