How can I disable message threads?
I am using Thunderbird 102.1.2 (64-bit). Is there a way to completely disable message threads? Thanks.

This may help: In config editor, change mailnews.default_view_flags to 0 to turn off threads.
The other approach is to set view>sort by>unthreaded.
And.....
How to get to config editor: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/config-editor
Tools>settings>General and scroll to bottom right where the button is.

The problem is that the availability of threading still exists via shortcut keys and this fix does not disable that.
So the people I work with are constantly calling me over because "all my emails are not showing".

@david WTF wouldn't you just say this: "The other approach is to set view>sort by>unthreaded." first and then add this: "In config editor, change mailnews.default_view_flags to 0 to turn off threads." secondary, if at all??
The application already has the ability to do it in a couple clicks. There is NO NEED for anyone to mess around with config files!
Except for maybe this reason:
When you have a threaded conversation, for some reason, the oldest email shows up first, WHY, I have no idea? I guess maybe they thought it would be easier to read a thread that way...here's a solution for that. Make the thread reverseable, just like you can click on the date to make the oldest emails first, you should be able to make a thread reverseable. I for one, don't like to have to scroll down a long thread to read the newest reply in a thread!!!
@olysback Because of the possibility of it being turned back on without your knowledge and suddenly you appear to be missing a large chunk of your emails.
Disabled means I cannot turn it on by accident and nothing else can turn it on.
102.7.0 cannot find the "veiw" nor is the button in the Tools/settings/general. Search turns up "nothing" when terms for *thread* are used. Help.
