Cannot download e-mails
This morning TB stopped receiving e-mails. It said to check my password. I have re-entered my password and can now send e-mails as normal.
But I cannot receive them. I have tried sending messages to myself using my normal NTLWorld address - Nothing comes back. I have sent e-mails from my NTL mail account to my Gmail account, all is good; it arrives in my Gmail account. But when I send from my Gmail to normal NTL nothing happens. My wife has sent a test message which has not come through.
If I click Get Message in TB all I see is "There are no new messages."
I have checked my web speeds; Ping 16ms, Download 255 Mbs, Upload 32 Mbs.
Is there a setting in TB which needs to be re-set, please?
Thank you

Did you try accessing your email account through the site itself, to see if they at least got there?
Thank you for your reply. Suddenly this morning all the e-mails started to come through. It was as if there was a blockage somewhere which suddenly cleared itself.
I seem to have spoken too soon. After receiving a batch of e-mails this morning Test e-mails sent recently to my Kindle mail NTL account or my PC TB mail account have not been received back in either my Kindle or TB NTL account.
I have sent a Test message from both my Kindle and PC to my NTL account and neither of them have appeared in my TB mail account or my NTL webmail mail box.
However, both of them have appeared instantly in my GMail account.
Any ideas, please?
Have you gone to Google - Security to see if the ability to use 3rd party apps is enabled for Thunderbird?
Mine worked for years, but recently it had issues. I had to go back into google security and Allow third-party apps again, specifically thunderbird, and then it started working again.
Google might be accepting mail for gmail via its SMTP servers, but not letting them go through to other email accounts. Just guessing....
Plus, in Thunderbird, there's two places for your password actually. One for your email server and another for the outbound via the SMTP server settings. Did you fix the SMTP password, but not the IMAP/POP one?
See if it's correct in SETTINGS-PRIVASCY & SECURITY - SAVED PASSWORDS.
You can even remove the one you think is a problem so it will ask again for it. Restart TB though first.
Might want to check there.
You could also do a search for "Thunderbird Repair" and you'll see a MOZ page with suggestions.
I also suggest being sure your system is up-to-date to rule that out, though unlikely the issue.

Thank you.
I am not sure what to do. After a wait of 3 hours I suddenly received 4 e-mails in TB. When I sent an e-mail from my PC to me it came back to me almost instantly. But I have not altered any settings. Could there be a fault in NTLWorld?
I have checked the password settings in TB both in mailbox://pop.virginmedia.com and smtp://smtp.virginmedia.com . They are both correct.
I have looked in Google Security but could not find the 3rd party apps section. But since the e-mails are arriving now not sure if that is the answer.
I am going on holiday tonight so I will not be able to follow your advice for a few days. I will try some more when I return.
I appreciate your patience, Best regards.
If it's intermittent, then it's very possible NTLWorld is having the issues.
If the problem is when sending through Google, you should check your 3rd party setting.
Go to "myaccount.google.com" Click on the SECURITY Link. Look for "Your connections to third-party apps & services".
It should show "Mozilla Thunderbird Email"
If it doesn't, you need to add it.
