I just signed up for an app called, "hi5" and used my Thunderbird email address: gohanzaizenb3st@mailfence.com to receive the confirmation email, and for some reason I have yet to receive that confirmation email.

We would have no idea about that. I suggest you log into your online account to see if the message was received. Also, some software vendors are slow in sending confirmation messages. And a further comment is that your email host may have thought the message was spam.
