I have Iceweasel 3.0.6. The address bar has a pull down arrow that displays favorites or addresses. How do clear these? I have cleared everything in preferences and the clear private data under tools to no avail. I even tried a apt-get purge and a re-install no luck.

It is not easy to clear the location bar history in Firefox 3.0.x versions.
If you update to Firefox 3.5 or 3.6 then you have more options.

Solved it. It seem if you have application icon in the bottom (task panel?) your icons do not show up. I had several FireFox applications running there that were not shown. Upon removing the application icon from the panel bar at the bottom all the running programs showed up! GUI's no matter what GUI it is, are not all ways forth with and honest.
